Burleigh Brewing Company came to R&B with a unique beer, a niche market and a personal vision. During the 10 month creative process we created a name – Duke – developed the brand, designed the visual style and adapted it to packaging, print and online media.
For a retail product such as beer, every element of the brand is crucial to market success and fundamentally sets the tone of communication with the market through all mediums.
By conducting a brand development workshop with the client, R&B identified the ‘soul’ of Duke. The brand story was then developed with the voice, personality, values, positioning, u.s.p and promise of ‘Real Fresh Beer’ in mind.
In early 2012, Bel was commissioned to design a suite of collateral for DEEDI in preparation for showcasing Queensland's best fresh produce to the world.
In addition to the graphic design work completed, Bel also art directed and photographed an extensive food image library for the Government department.
Bel Bare, Creative Director and founder of the Republic of Bohemia studio, originally founded 'R&B' Creative on the Gold Coast in 2005 with her brother Rob. The 'B' of R&B did some fantastic and enjoyable work with her business partner 'R', and the company soon started to grow in leaps and bounds.
After Bel's maternity leave in 2011, she decided the hectic digital realm that R&B now dominated was not her speed. Bel chose to focus on her craft as a designer, brand developer and photographer under the Republic of Bohemia banner.

Inspired by the many different elements which make Byron Bay popular, such as the endless summer, pristine scenery and unique culture, Byron Bay Captured was created to embody the essence of the region in a brand.
Bel created a vibrant and meaningful array of icons which represent the Byron Bay lifestyle, which is close to her heart. As the main focus of the design, she applied a subtle water drop defined in the negative space. The result is an eye catching style that is easily applied to product, merchandise and point of sale.
An established company with over 20 years in the building industry, Glenzeil is a brand well recognised in South East Queensland. Glenzeil realised it was time to refresh their brand.
The brief was to maintain the Glenzeil company identity and history, while enhancing their image for future growth.
By enhancing and expanding on essential visual elements of the brand style, recognition of the Glenzeil brand was maintained.
From this point, the logo was given a contemporary styling and colour changes. With the revitalised brand established, the new style was carried through to the Glenzeil corporate identity and print collateral. The new brand was thoroughly documented in a style guide that could be used as a detailed reference for suppliers and management.
The Glenzeil team welcomed the refreshed identity, adopting it throughout the business. The new brand also inspired the company to reinvigorate their presence in the area through additional marketing.

A quick peek ...
The Drinx Group approached Bel Bare to offer creative for a new business venture, the Champagne Gallery. Bel’s initial presentation brought accolades from all the project stake holders including Clive Kitchen, Drinx Managing Director.
The Champagne Gallery logo, branding elements and a comprehensive Style Guide were developed and adapted for print, advertising, signage, display, packaging and the online store. Bel co-ordinated and Art Directed the ‘hero’ photograph, shot in Sydney. The photograph was then retouched to achieve the final image used in all collateral. The branding also extended into environment design for Drinx owned retail, bar and restaurant locations throughout Brisbane and Sydney.
The Champagne Gallery web site was identified as the main point of sale. R&B was engaged to consult on design, development, ease of navigation, usability and search engine marketing. In the preliminary stages, R&B’s Information Architecture ensured that key business objectives, user experience, traffic conversion and search engine optimisation were thoughtfully considered.
“Bravo! Bravo! Your presentation was fabulous!”

Bel Bare was briefed to re-invent the way the Australian Seafood Industry presents itself on the international exhibition circuit and to communicate Australia’s clean and pristine environment, high quality produce, diversity and industry sustainability.
The Australian Seafood exhibition stand was designed for the Euro-seafood Expo in Belgium, May 2007 and 2008. The installation will subsequently present Australian Seafood at future exhibitions and trade events around the world.
Bel set out to brand the Australian Seafood Industry as a world class supplier of high quality produce. Within a 200m2 area, she divided the stand into key sections – a ‘Main Hub’ for all enquiries, the ‘Sea Lounge’ for private meetings and functions, the ‘Seafood Cafe’ for tastings and demonstrations and individual stands for advertisers to promote their businesses within specific seafood categories. The large sails, a prominent feature of the design, were used as a projection tool and as a mechanism to stand out from the crowd. Reminiscent of the Sydney Opera House, they also served as a visual recognition of brand Australia.
Bel Bare designed the logo and all conceptual and graphical elements of the stand, successfully branding Australian Seafood as a world class supplier of high quality seafood product. Project Management of the construction and technical renders were handled by DNA design of Brisbane.
“Bel Bare has done an outstanding job for us over the past two years. Two years ago I approached Bel to help re-design the look and feel for the Australian pavilion at the European Seafood Expo. The design was clear, clean and had impact. Exactly what we were after.
The professional approach was underpinned with insightful knowledge on building a brand presence that has meaning. A great team to work with and one I happily recommend.”

Wild Origins offers gourmet, 'heat and eat' pre-prepared meals made with wholesome ingredients with an extensive (and delicious) menu. The creative task (still in progress) is the refresh the existing logo and create new collateral, including brochures, catalogue, stationery, packaging and website. The first step of this process was to analyse the current brand positioning and develop new brand strategy.

Bel Bare was born and raised in Australia. After spending much of her adult life in Sydney, she now resides on the Gold Coast in Queensland with her French Canadian husband, her vibrant and inquisitive young children and Holly the Chihuahua.
